Fureho is a startup based on research that tracks back to 1997 at Chalmers University.
“A key learning for us has been that a new material requires people to change their mindsets and this requires more time than we had anticipated.”
Fureho is one of the 10 winners of the 2018 ÅForsk Entrepreneurial Scholarship – hence deeptech of the week!
Developing Noobed Material for Automotive, Energy and Aerospace, bringing a practical solution to lowering carbon emissions.
Fureho is developing Noobed Material which stems from PhD work carried out at Chalmers back in 1997.
Noobed Materials are delamination resistant 3D preforms, comprising carbon, ceramic or other fibres in XYZ orientations, for structural load-bearing composite material applications.
– In the 90’s the development of the Noobed Material was ahead of its time. But with the growing need in recent years for new and more advanced lightweight composite materials, particularly from an environmental standpoint, made the conditions highly relevant and conducive to bring Noobed Materials to market, Khokar explains.
– A key learning for us has been that a new material requires people to change their mindsets and this requires more time than we had anticipated.
Khokar have a strong desire to help reduce CO2 emissions for improving the environment.
– I want to contribute in some unique way, and with a practical solution.
Said and done. Together with her father Nandan Khokar and a family friend, Fredrik Winberg, Prarthanaa decided to form Fureho.
– Both Nandan and Fredrik bring valuable experience from their companies Oxeon and Biteam. My background in computer engineering and communications from Chalmers combined with marketing-sales experience came handy in creating Fureho. Just as the support received from the incubator, she explains.
Prior to founding Fureho last year, work was carried out in the form of an R&D project hosted at Inkubatorn i Borås 2010-2016.
– This gave us a platform to engage with the market, access funding and evolve the business model. We are very grateful for the support and guidance from the incubator.
Currently, the Noobed Material is being used by leading teams in the motorsport industry, and the company is also engaged in energy and aerospace.
– Receiving the Åforsk Scholarship attests to Fureho’s commitment towards creating a fuel efficient and environmentally sustainable future. It also gives credibility to Fureho and our work towards the market as well as future investors and financiers.
