STEP is a tailor-made team development programme for startups, based on research on entrepreneurship and psychology, that supports the building of high-performing and high-functioning entrepreneurial teams. This is done by focusing on both individual and team development. The programme has developed concrete tools to help start-up teams work with behavioural science, HR and self-management.
The STEP Programme 2025
Since autumn 2020, over 60 people have trained as STEP facilitators to meet the needs of companies and develop more growing companies.Together, they have applied the STEP concept to around 800 entrepreneurs through 200 teams. The concept has been developed in close collaboration with the start-up teams, business developers at incubators and science parks, and in collaboration with an international team of researchers in entrepreneurship and psychology.
The STEP Team Development Programme is a training course where business developers/business coaches learn to identify team challenges and use STEP tools to solve them. Now we are enabling more SISP members to utilise this successful concept.
Through the programme, business developers learn to identify the challenges of the companies from a team development perspective and then match them with appropriate tools. The aim is to create the conditions for well-functioning, high-performing and profitable companies.
So far, startups have been offered business development in technology, finance and marketing, focusing on the business plan, but not HR. A well-functioning team is one of the most important elements for success or failure. From an investor perspective – the team is crucial for the success of the company.
Many entrepreneurs like to clone themselves when hiring, while companies benefit from having different skills and personality types that complement each other. SISP therefore offers a team development programme with tailor-made team workshops: Startup Team Entrepreneurship Program – STEP.
Today, the STEP concept has been tested on around 800 entrepreneurs through 200 teams. The concept has been developed in close co-operation with the start-up teams, business developers at incubators and science parks, and in collaboration with an international research team in entrepreneurship and psychology.

We are convinced that all organisations need different support in a development process. Therefore, the content and coaching is tailored and individualised according to the organisations that are accepted. The programme is based on proven tools and knowledge that are conveyed and implemented through individual coaching and follow-up, through digital meetings with the other organisations and the provision of lots of practical tools.
The programme is primarily aimed at business innovation and business support organisations such as science parks, innovation offices and incubators, but other organisations and businesses are also encouraged to apply.
During the programme, we will challenge traditional ways of working. We will create the conditions for you to implement the methods at home, as well as anchoring the need for the work at management level.
Do you want to increase the ability of the companies you work with to successfully attract more capital, become more profitable and build bigger teams in less time? Then you should sign up to become a STEP facilitator!
