Welcome AstraZeneca BioVentureHub to the SISP Community!

AstraZeneca BioVentureHub is an open innovation platform in the heart of AstraZeneca’s strategic R&D environment in Gothenburg, giving life science growth companies and academic groups access to AstraZeneca’s expertise and infrastructure. We now welcome AstraZeneca BioVentureHub as a new SISP member!

– As a new member of SISP, AstraZeneca BioVentureHub looks forward to strengthening Sweden’s innovation system together with other leading innovation environments. By connecting industry expertise with startups and scaleups, we want to accelerate development and scale Swedish innovation both locally and globally. Together with SISP’s network, we can influence in the right direction, from research to patient benefit, and show the way towards a richer and more sustainable future,” says Magnus Björsne, CEO, AstraZeneca BioVentureHub.

What opportunities do you see for developing & influencing Sweden’s innovation system together, via the SISP network?

– In a world that is constantly changing and affecting both us as organisations and our respective companies, we see great benefits in working with other organisations and contexts to address common issues. Many of the challenges we face unite us, and at an overall level we share the same ambition, to contribute to future solutions and strengthen competitiveness.

– We think it is extremely positive that our large established companies are involved in Sweden’s new business community, and AstraZeneca BioVentureHub is a great example of how they can create great value. I always say “it takes a country to raise a startup”, and by AstraZeneca BioVentureHub now becoming a member, more bridges will be created in the ecosystem, to the benefit of our startups and scaleups. I am also convinced that there is a lot of learning to explore between private initiatives like AstraZeneca BioVentureHub and other innovation environments – together we make each other even better,” says Stina Lantz, CEO, SISP.

We tailor access to industry expertise and facilitate collaborations with AstraZeneca, where the companies can scale and validate their technology. We focus on non-competing areas where we see synergies and a mutual benefit from co-development, such as pharma-related technologies, DeepTech, Digital & AI and SustainTech. All companies remain independent, AstraZeneca does not own the companies or their innovations. Within BioVentureHub, we work according to a “dare-to-share” culture, which drives joint learning, shared resources and collaborations between all companies.
